Man Utd vs Man City LIVE RESULT: Rashford gives Red Devils hope despite being outplayed by Pep Guardiola’s men

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER must inspire Manchester United to repeat their famous comeback at PSG last season if they are to progress to the Carabao Cup final.
The Red Devils were completely outplayed by Pep Guardiola's Man City and lucky to come away from Old Trafford with only a 3-1 defeat.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring with a screamer for City before Riyad Mahrez rounded David De Gea to make it 2-0.
Kevin De Bruyne then went on an incredible run before seeing his shot saved by De Gea but rebound off Andreas Pereira to give the visitors a 3-0 half time lead.
Marcus Rashford netted with a cool finish in the second half to give the Red Devils some hope at the Etihad, but the advantage is very much with Guardiola's champions.

    OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has spoken.
The United boss told Sky Sports: “From the first goal, and especially from second we struggled with them, Good reaction second-half, that’s more like it.
“But, until they scored it was like there and back, after they scored we didn’t cope well enough.
“We didn’t deal with it well enough, we know they can play that way. I went to see them last year vs Chelsea and they won 6-0 at Etihad.
“They are good at what they are doing. We just didn’t recover from those goals.
“With Nemanja, with his experience, came on there. More presence. It was more about wanting the ball. First-half there were too many square and back passes.
“We have shown before we have been down from a home tie and turned it around. Last year against PSG was the latest example.”

PEP GUARDIOLA has spoken to Sky Sports.
He said: “It was an outstanding goal from Bernardo, we played really good.
“Second-half they changed shape and we started a little more to keep the ball. Good result, but it is not over because it is United.

BERNARDO SILVA has spoken to Sky Sports after his stunning goal set City on their way to victory tonight.
He said: “We could have gone to half-time with four or five.
“Overall it was a good performance and we are very happy with the win.
“We were disappointed because we lost at home, it is not normal for us.
“It makes it up for our fans.”

KYLE WALKER has had his say on City's convincing 3-1 win at Old Trafford tonight.
He told Sky Sports: “I saw space and if i see it I’ll attack it.”
“The first half was great and second half they changed the system. Fair play to us we got the result we needed and on to the Etihad now.
“We knew they’d come out differently, it was about controlling the game as much as possible and saving your legs as best you can.”

MARCUS RASHFORD'S second half strike may well have just been a consolation effort on the night – but has kept a glimmer of hope for the second leg for Solskjaer's men.
It was, for the most part, a miserable night for the majority inside Old Trafford this evening.
But skipper on the night Marcus Rashford has kept them just about dreaming of a trip to Wembley for March's final.
They will have to be much improved though after the majority of that sorry showing.
