A Colorado Springs bank robbery suspect was feeling the Christmas spirit Monday afternoon.
David Oliver, 65, was arrested after robbing the Academy Bank, claiming he had a weapon and leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department,
Witnesses said that before he was arrested, Oliver walked outside and began throwing the stolen money into the air, yelling, “Merry Christmas,” KKTV reported.
Bystander Dion Pascale told the television station that people scooped up the money and gave it back to the bank teller.
Colorado Springs police spokesperson Sgt. Jim Jeffocat told The Denver Post that thousands of dollars are still missing.
Oliver was found sitting in front of a nearby coffee shop shortly after the incident and was taken into custody, according to CSPD.
Police didn't find any indication that he had a weapon.
